An NBC Nightly News Investigation found the Recovery filter, sold by C.R. Bard, to be linked to approximately 300 non-fatal problems and at least 27 deaths. Following these reports, NBC News sought to answer serious questions about the manufacturers knowledge of the device’s fatal flaws.

FDA Warns of Amputations Connected to Certain Diabetes Drugs

Serious side effects, including leg, foot, and other amputation, have been associated with a new class of diabetes drugs known as SGLT-2 inhibitors. Accordingly, the FDA has required black boxed warnings for amputation risks for glucose-controlling medications such as Invokana.

Study Links Common Proton Pump Inhibitors to Risk of Kidney Damage

Use of prescription proton pump inhibitors to treat heartburn has been associated with an increased risk of developing long-term kidney damage. According to a study covered by CBS News, people who take GERD drugs have at least a 20% higher risk of developing chronic kidney disease when compared to non-users.

Updated FDA Review Reiterates Risk of Bladder Cancer Associated with Actos
