There are varying degrees of burn injuries, ranging from first-degree to fourth-degree burns and beyond. Some of the most debilitating are third and fourth-degree burns. Each year, hundreds of thousands of individuals are admitted to hospitals for burn injuries that occur in the home, workplace, or as the result of car accidents. Study Finds Young Children at Higher Risk for Ocular Chemical Burns

A study published in JAMA Ophthalmology found young children represent the single highest-risk group for ocular chemical injuries. Though chemical eye burns from cleaning products and industrial chemicals are generally considered an issue in work-related settings, injury rates are highest among children aged one to two years.
