A new year is hot off the press and everyone at The Law Offices of Foster & Houston is excited to see what 2017 will bring. Since opening our doors in 2005, we’ve been passionate about speaking for those who feel they have no voice.

While we wait to see what lies ahead in 2017, we wanted to take a look back on the past year.

  • Rivalry in Rio de Janeiro: In August, more than 11,000 athletes participated in the Summer Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. This year’s event featured the first-ever participation from Kosovo, South Sudan and the Refugee Olympic Team. The United States took home gold, leading the medal tally with 46 gold medals and a total of 121 medals.
  • Hello, Jupiter: Big news this year from NASA as the Juno probe successfully entered orbit around the solar system’s biggest planet – Jupiter. Part of the NASA New Frontiers mission, Juno’s goal is to help scientists better understand the origin and evolution of Jupiter.

  • CC_WS_FandHLaw.jpgNobody Puts the Chicago Cubs in the Corner: After 108 years, the Chicago Cubs won the World Series. According to multiple reports, more than 5 million people went to the windy city to celebrate the team’s first win since 1908.

  • Mr. Tambourine Man Wins the Nobel Prize: In 2016, Bob Dylan was honored for "having created new poetic expressions within the great American song tradition.” It was the first time the Nobel Prize in Literature award has been given to a musician.

  • pokemongo_fandhlaw.pngGotta Catch ‘Em All: A new mobile gaming app took the world by storm in 2016. In July, the location-based mobile game Pokémon Go was launched in Australia, New Zealand, and the United States. What made this game unique was its ability for users to interact with virtual characters in real-world locations. To date, Pokémon Go has had more than 500 million downloads.
